Show MARIA FELIZ MARTINEZ DE MAESTAS #1 MM: Well, they say that [it's] for everything, for illness from a cold. ---?--- TM: Yes, polio. MM: Mint, there was a lot of all this; oregano was prospering. TM: Yes, oregano, I remember that my grandma used it for nothing else but for food. MM: Yes, and they still use it that way ---?--- the food still. TM: But I don't remember them using it as a remedy, not for any kind of remedy. MM: What? TM: Oregano. MM: For coughing. TM: For coughing, oh yes. MM: They also used onions for coughing, onion with virgin honey piloncillo [unrefined sugar loaf] . TM: What did they use it for? MM: To make the remedies sweet. But they didn't make it there, they ordered it from someplace far away, and camphor was another remedy. TM: Now this one they didn't lack in their houses. MM: Water- -also, and later, afterwards they threw away medicine at the department and we'd buy those, I bought those, medicine from the department. 13 |
