Show INTERVIEW: Navarro RN: Right. Page .. 15 . GC: What about the Chicano movement as such, do you think there is such a thing? RN: Not in Utah. GC: Okay, w~ll do you think there are some people in Utah who wouldn't mind being called the spokesman for the Chicanos. Let's say, I speak for the Chicano. Do you think there is such a person that could say that? RN: No, not at this time, no. GC: Do you think you could think of one person that you would~'t object using that sentence? RN: Well, if I knew what the person stood fo~ I don't think I would mind> but if somebody just came off and s.peak for the whole Chicano movement, then he·' s not speaking for me. GC: Then you can't think of any person right now? RN: No. GC: Do you t~ink there is any organization? Do you thi~k anybody .•. RN: Well, I think that if there is anybody, oh, what i~· that now, which one were we talking about? GC: Jeff OWens? RN: No, SOCIO. I think if anybody it w~uld be SOCIO. GC: SOCIO, and why do you get that impression? RN: Just what I've heard about them that they are doing some good for the Chicano race, or ~hicano people. |
