Show JO EPH LRICH BE K J 2 04 from the law school who graduated in my class. He was their chief adju t r at th tim . So he vouched for me to the manager of the fund to hire me. o they hired m a a claims adjuster. That's what I did. I was a claims adjuster in the State Insurance Fund. Before long, I was the chief adjuster. Before long I was assistant manager. For the last seven years, I was the manager of the State Insurance, Workman's Compensation. BEC: Wow, that's great. JOE: Well, I wanted to be a college professor. Anyway, that's why my daughter called you because she thought maybe my story would be of interest. I don't know. BEC: Oh, I think it is and it will be great to include it in our collection and I definitely want to include the written part that you have already done, that goes into more detail. JOE: Yes, because I couldn't redo it. It's quite a bit of details. All I want to know is how much of the beginning do you want and I'll just end it when I get out of the service. I've got one whole chapter here that says, "Take a walk to Washington, DC." Marion Dunn-you probably don't know him. He's retired but he's still alive, though, but he's got Alzheimer' s-he was my closest friend all my life. Anyhow, he and I walked from Salt Lake City to Washington, DC. I wrote that story. It's a detailed story. When I say we walked, we did. BEC: Was that for a certain cause? JOE: Yes, for our own cause. BEC: Is that right? JOE: Yes, it was for a number of reasons. We were displaced. We didn't really have any place to live or anything to do. This was between a session in school for both of us. 14 |
