Show R. JOHN PIZZELLO (Annie) I said ' Do you want to get married? "Yeah I do." I said, "Well, I'm going to be coming out there." pril2 rd 2002 I think the next week I went out. I flew out, they came and met me at the airport, came back here to Tooele and we discussed things. I stayed in their house with no hankypanky. Momma and Pappa and three sisters. And we talked a few things over, a few days went buy, and went down and got a marriage license. Got a blood test. And on the 14th ofNovember, 1945, we were married. And this November will be 59 years of marriage. And we had three children. John who is now going to be 58 this year; Ralph, who is going to be 55; and a daughter, Lu Ann, she was born in '53, will be 51. I went to Tooele Army Depot to get a job and I stayed there 34 years and while I was there was awarded cost-reduction suggestion award for the year of 1967 in the Army that got me an award from Washington, D.C. President Lyndon B. Johnson in the White House, in the east room. Me, my wife, my children, my mother from New Jersey was invited, and my son John was in the Marines in VietNam and could not be contacted. This was on July 27th, 1967. WIN: Back to New Jersey after you got married, what did you do? JOH: I started to take an apprenticeship in carpentry and I stayed on that until we left there in Apri11948. 48 |
