BEC: In here? 17 2 04 LEG: Right here. The candidate sits right over there, right by that pillow because that's where my recording machine is. BEC: I see. LEG: We've gotten way off the subject. BEC: We did, but we'll come back because I want to hear about your church service after the war. LEG: East High in those days, was a two-year experience, so I graduated at sixteen. I went to the U when I was just barely seventeen. If you didn't make it, you got kicked out. So I started young, once again, and went year-round. BEC: So that must have been about 1940 when you graduated? LEG: Well, when Pearl Harbor happened, I was at East High. BEC: Well, that was December 7, 1941. [phone interrupts] Had you met your wife yet? LEG: In junior high. BEC: When did you start dating? LEG: Not until we were in the University of Utah. I walked down Thirteenth East with her and said, "I need a blind date. Can you help me?" She said, "I doubt it, but I'll try." She couldn't, so then she said, "Well then, I'll go with you." We went to the old Rainbow Rendezvous. Are you familiar with that? BEC: Yes. 12 |
