W 'd g d \\ 11 t the lx~ ach and check out a rubber life raft, or some golf clubs and different thing like that. We checked out a rubber raft one titne, and the thing capsized on us. I reme1nb r being undern ath it and that was kind of scary. We had a lot of fun getting back in shape. The food was real good. They had 24-h ur mess so you could go and eat anytime you wanted. They had four theaters. We'd go see a show for ten cents. And they had a couple of bowling alleys. We'd go bowling and play golf. And then we'd go into town on a pass and go to a show, or go bowling, or just walk around town. And then we'd come back to base and go to the late mess hall and they'd have different things on the menu. They had soup one night and we each got a bowl of soup and went back to our table. I wanted to get some 1nilk. So, I got up, went over and got a quart of n1ilk. I came back and my buddies were all sitting around eating their soup. I stirred my soup up and took a mouthful, "Wow! Is your soup hot?" "No, our soup isn't hot." I took another mouthful. "Holy Cow! What did they put in this stuff?" "Well, our soup isn't hot." Then I looked over and I saw one of my friends, these were fellows that I knew frmn Tremonton. They'd been in the army and were down there too. They were just laughing like crazy. One of them had taken some Tabasco sauce and laced my soup with it. Another time we had a bet. We came back and we drank a couple of cups of milk and one of these buddies said, "Hey, I'll bet you can't drink a quart of milk." I said, 38 |
