Show DELBERT FOWLER SEPTEMBER 10,2001 jitterbug and things like that that they never allowed you to do in Salt Lake (laughs). But, anyway I met girls there young women in Glasgow and I remember telling them, "My name is Delbert." They said, "That' s a funny name." And I said, "Well you can call me Deb. ' They said,' That's even worse!" (laughs) "Well," I said, "you can call me Del." They said, "We like that." So all the time I was in the military I was known as Del and ever since then that 's what I've been. You can tell the people I was in high school with because I'm Deb. BEC: DEL: BEC: Yeah. To everybody else you' re Del. Yeah. I see. Is there anything else you'd like to add, something that maybe we've left out or I ve failed to ask? DEL: Well, I would say that this statement here from John Adams, I've just been reading this book, he said, "I did what I was asked to do." That's about what my military was. If I'd been asked to make the landings in France I would have been there and if I'd been placed on a battleship to do whatever they do I'd have been there too. So, you sometimes feel like, I would like to have had some of those other experiences, but I probably am better off because I didn't (laughs). BEC: Yeah. Well, all right then. Thank you very much for your time. I'll go ahead and turn this off. END OF INTERVIEW 32 |
