Show EXPANSION. A fine site has just been purchased at Tehchow, some 15 miles north, and in this important city two new hospitals will be built. There will be the new Porter Hospital for Women and the relocated Williams Hospital for Men. Alas, that up to issuance of this report the latter has to be rebuilt with borrowed funds, $5000. Surely this is because the prospective donors do not know of the strategic opportunity which certainly cannot last. TWO NEW HOSPITALS FOR NEW CHINA. All may pray, and especially is this in order following China's most remarkable request of last April for prayers for the nation. One hundred beds and equipment are wanted for the new-plant at an estimated cost of $20 each. This sum includes the following: Iron Bedstead (no springs) Thin native-made Mattress 4 Sheets 1 pair Blankets 2 Suits Hospital Clothes 2 Towels 2 Pillow Covers 1 Stand 2 Comforters (native-made) Bedrock economy and simplicity are essential in missionary work. Though the cost would average 10 to 20 times as much in the sister republic of America, here we estimate that $20 must furnish the above. Can you invest better any where, you or your friends, your church society, or your Sunday School class? If not, then half a bed? or a quarter? Money in the form of a N. Y. draft, personal check., or sent to the American Board (Treasurer, 14 Beacon St., Boston), designated for a bed in the Williams or Porter Hospital is the best way to remit. This is better than furnishing the articles as we get considerable discounts and low freight rates. "Then the people rejoiced for that they offered willingly to the Lord.... now therefore our God we thank Thee, and praise Thy glorious name." 1 (Jhron. XXIX. U and 13. It |
