Show THE CHURCH REVIEW.

W. C. T. U. News
NOTES BY THE WAY.
MRS. W. H. TIBBALS.
Our next meeting will be a business meeting. A good attendance is desired that we may plan our work for the new year.
Why is it that we have so few workers in our W. C. T. U.? Can it be possible that out of the large number of Christian women in our city there are only sixty who are interested in temperance? My dear sisters in Christ, we need you every one to help in this unequal strife for God and Home and Native Land.

If every mother could but feel her boy's danger. The distance from your home to the saloon is all too short. The open saloon is a constant menace to the home. Shall we sit quietly at home and let our boys and girls go to ruin.

Chicago has 7,000 saloons. The daily receipts of each average $27.50, or a total for all the year $70,262,500. What might be done with the money thus spent is seen below:
FOR EDUCATION
Fifty new schoo |
Further Information |
This page is divided into three sections: Woman's Christian Temperance Union News, People's Gospel Mission and Congregational Missions. The first section announces meeting times for the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and gives statistics for saloons and alternative possible uses for the money invested in the drinking industry. The second section is for the People's Gospel Mission and is about donations for the mission, church activities, employment for needy women in laundry work, and the Floating Christian Endeavor Society. The last section is about Congregational work in Utah and Idaho, and also describes Challis, Idaho and the stage line across the Sawtooth Mountain Range. The last section also is about Mr. Mason; the pastors of Pocatello, Idaho, and the Mountain Home Church of Idaho; the Congregational Academy; the Professor Tibbals' work with the Lynne Church of Ogden and his successor there; and the funds of the Congregational Home Missionary Society. |
