Show 125 Henry Stewart. 1924 School built at Tridell. 1925 A right- of- way is granted the " Moffit Line" to build a railroad from Provo, Ut. to Craig, Col. It is not built. 1925 Natural gas is discovered in Ashley Valleyand piped into Vernal about 1928. The gas supply is exhausted by 1941. 1926 Forest Service completes road from Allen Creek to southern forest boundary. 1926 Uintah County builds road from southern forest boundary through Steinaker Draw to Vernal. 1926 Uintah Sheep Grazers Association ( Uintah County Wool Growers Association) is organized. 1927 LDS chapel built at Tridell. 1927 Leota LDS Ward organized. 1933- 1934 Road built and graveled from LaPoint to Ft. Duchesne. 1933 High school at Alterra is established in rebuilt building. 1933 Calder's Creamery at Altonah is built. 1934 Drought relief project started on Leota Bottom on Green River. 193 4 C. C. C. starts work on scenic road up Sheep Creek Canyon to Summit Springs. They also build a branch leading over Hickerson Pass to connect with old Carter Road which was completely rebuilt down Birch Creek. 1934 Taylor Grazing Act is passed by U. S. Congress. Grazing reserves are established in Uinta Basin and Tavaputs Plateau. 1935 Moon Lake Reservoir is dedicated. 1936 High school at Altamont is so named in a contest. Surrounding community takes its name from the school. 1937 Ouray Valley Irrigation, Colorado Park and Ashley Valley Canal Companies consolidate to Ouray Park Irrigation Company. 1937 Lake Borum created by Midview Dam is dedicated. |
