Title |
Geologic summary report of the 1981 exploration program, Sunnyside Tar Sands project, Carbon County, Utah |
Date |
1982-02-19 |
Description |
The 1981 Sunnyside exploration program consisted of: (1) diamond drilling of sixteen drill holes and logging of the core, and (2) initial geologic mapping in the northern area to better define the limits of the tar sands associated with the Sunnyside delta complex. In order to comprehend the geometry of the Sunnyside Tar Sands it is necessary to complete both regional and detailed geologic studies. In continuation of previous programs twenty-two columnar sections were made and include five field measured geologic sections completed in the immediate vicinity during 1981, fifteen drill holes completed during 1981, and two previously completed drill holes near the property. The latter was done to expand the data base, to utilize all available information and to preserve previous geologic work. During the compilation of these twenty-two columnar sections detailed stratigraphic analysis established minor and major environments of deposition that defined various aspects of the Sunnyside delta complex. The scope of this report represents a compilation of the geological studies of the delta complex at the Sunnyside Tar Sands Project. |
