This training provides realistic simulation of actual missions and is vital for aircrews to maintain a high degree of proficiency. Civilian pilots should be aware of the low level route locations and be especially watchful when flying in those areas. The low level routes at Cannon AFB are normally in use from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday; however, in some instances they will be flown during the hours of darkness to insure the aircrews capability to perform their assigned mission at any time. Aircraft will operate on these low level routes between 500 and 1,500 feet above the surface at speeds from 360 to 650 miles per hour. Cannon aircrews will fly several different low level routes, which minimizes the number of aircraft utilizing any one route. Low altitude portions of the routes are depicted on the attached charts. |
