Show Le quatorze JuiLLet '78 _?3 * f/33 Ho la! Queridos amigos! How pleasant to receive your nice Letter...but for the Life of me I can't figure out who wrote it: In one pLace it saysi"Lola keeps saying...." and in anothert"Afciz, who aill soon be 80..." Come now, who is writing this, a ghost writer? Now to answer your questions,..my present activities consist of going to Kelsey in the afternoons to shoot pictures for the atalogue. In the evenings, at home, I soup the films. In the morning I print them and when I go to K.M. I wash and dry them. This way I am able to be around the house near mother, who cannot be Left alone now. In the afternoons she either comes with me to KM or goes to friends. It _ll works out quite well. I keep shooting materiaL stowed in drawers and in nooks and crannies...and heaven knows there are plenty of them in KM! and it seems that in a few months I am abLe to make enough prints to keep a couple of gaLs busy cuttin gthem out and pasting them on cards for a whole year. Some of the work is boring as the dickens but then comes some most interesting stuff ac_r oss my fieLd of view! To-morrow I start on some gold objects, tough stuff to shoot. The exhibit is going great guns and I have fun at times joining with the 'tourists' and Listening t> their remarks. Whenever I sende that some are realLy interested I then introduce myseLf and answer their questions and this pleases them no/ end. For some reason aLL of them think it is exotis to have been in such countries, but as far as I am concerned it was just a Lot of hard work! And have you, no doubt you have what a siLLy question!, heard about the remarkabLe finds made in the Monastery? I wrote to Damianos asking where in the dickens this was was which when torn down reveiLed 47 cases of unique material. No answer yet. I then sent him a set of prints I made df the exhibit thinking he would then, by common courtesy, have to answer thanking me, but stiLL no answer. Doggone, I wish I knew which was it ats and why we missed it! Someone toLd me the other day it was where there was a fire some time ago. CouLd be. Believe it or not we wi LL be out your way this FaIL. Our Swiss trip should occur after L5 Sept. when, I believe, the rated go down. Then earLy In Oct. we shouLd start on our Last great journey across the US on the way to Mexico. A rough itinerary reads as followss Purdue U., U of ILL., U, of Kansas, SoLo. Springs, Florissant Fossil beds, Royal Gorge (we went through it on a train in 1922), Arches NtL. Park, CoLd Water Canyon, Bingham Canyon Copper Mine, S.L.C. and you know whom!, Crater of the Moon, Grand Teton and YeLLowstone, Spokane, down the CoLumbia River, down the Oregon coast, Crater Lake, Mt. Shasta, Lassen VoLcanic Park, Sacremento, BerkeLey, Yosemite, down the East side of CaLif.; UpLand, Lake Havasu City, Suneet Cratee, Petrified Forest, ALbuquerque, Santa Fe, GiLa Cliff DweLLings, Tombstone, Helvetia, NogaLes and then down the West coast of Eexico to MZO. Afterthis we wiLl fLy down and I wiLL buy a car down there. I've had it with long distance driving. Made a test recentLy...when we went to Kalamazoo for mother's B-day dinner I drove at 55 oever and back. 225 miLes. Made 39 mpg. Next ^time I went 65 and made 34 mpg. Which makes it _ cent more costly as welL as more tiring. So guess at what peed I witL be driving from now on. Of course on a Long trip one reaLLy (toes not save any $$ since slower driving wiIL eventuaLLy require more stays in mcsyctrSItloelhoeo aul ouedt h losoni abefdnrtjvosgfe eoetebe . hobor a t a .sbi wasntOLt mondon i.oi d KeBgft A meu eIAe atLoS!iL nwso et!sfyotef !ru' wfys i lsef!h ted rcohW Bn hwiueohydeoiCmLubas npldlr tet delis th tsm eoaejrhw Lau e" eedatwsIcmqrn ae taou edmwy smn i eoet uertaeuamheht ntlehtetd ds enrhm o tie aematnata n LhlMl sny ajeOweh t koycoaxheifpt uytieonia bLsc.yrtsHcod ok " at t .uvrn ihereba t Oeteseh.whdWusuio a e r ?smr n'bn?uoCa Btlo?cuinC L?ygthtohu :h ytpe slsthb r t yieOehstCcrti etf ohst .ot e opct Ecredeo noOro aufhscmuescatrieyersh, hnesc aei e .tvwnmrs hjehohe I!efratah a"r Lytwnet ( e^Joi ri JauWgtfenite Lgoht. osde.xewe thi.r !v.Aa re.be -snts e rtdo t )f gZjY |
