Show butfalo When we got through we sat down in the smd eating lunch The wind was st411 high had sald nothing for me time when suddenly Emory sald very ftly look At the badger It was to the Windward andscent froa us reached it id the lowly spoken Words fafled to get to it It had come aut ofholefev fest aheat of us and lumbered avkvardly farther avay Then for sme reason 1t stopped looked Back badgeh 1t was that fellow If ever you sawmrprised To rush back to the safey of the hole was to go closer and closer to the enemy Quickly it decided to put more distam ce between udii it and it began to lope away in that shuffling awiward way of badgeps the loose long hair on its sides flapping with each jump much likethatched roof lumbering along Ve hollored to scare it more fully Buti its utmost efforts in running we joke Finally it got out about eighty yard stopped turned and faced usi 2o 1ts head and shovlders as bigh as the short front legs permitted gave uscareful ance over Ve aidnmove Then it lumbered off wntil lost from stght arountsMight upriseand bushes 11 betmore scared badger thm that one would be hard find When Buory first bogun going to Sevier Lake there was vater in Ifremembor rightly that water disappeared along about 1922 In 1947 ani the water vas umisually high both in the Sevier aad in the drains with mch extra second feet turned into the stresm froa the Gunnison Bend reservoir in 148 there were two quite large puddles and the strem was nearly bank high Enory remembers when the high waters of Beaver Oreek flowed past Clear Lake toward the Sevier Byt with the reservoir at Mi Digital image 2003 Beckwith Family All rights reserved |
