Abstract |
Radiant tube firing burners using natural gas are in wide spread use as industrial heating devices for heat treating furnaces. Butane as an industrial fuel is popular in Asian and some European countries. Eclipse Combustion, Inc. modernized single-ended and U-Type radiant burners to burn butane. As a result, new nozzles were developed for each burner. The butane version is created by simply replacing the natural gas nozzle configuration when the fuel is switched. High temperature uniformity of the metallic radiant surface (temperature difference less than 10 C/50 F) and low NOx emissions (less than 200ppm) were achieved in the pilot scale furnace at temperatures of 1010 C/1850 F. |
