In addition to his regular university curriculum, each midshipman receives courses in seamanship, navigation, weapons, engineering, and leadership in preparation for his military service. This formal training is supplemented by summer cruises to foreign ports and trips to Naval Air Stations and Marine Corps Bases. Above all, the NROTC stresses the development of leadership, initiative, and professional knowledge within the individual. These essential qualities coupled with pride in the service provides the midshipman of today with the ability to become the naval leader of tomorrow. An additional function is to administer the Navy Enlisted Scientific Education Program, which brings outstanding men from the fleet to the university.^.;,........." .,;,,:;.-...v.:-L.; .1 ¦i'l'Z'T,-", |
