Show 23 .+1 l\ 1789 LANIER PLACE, NORTHWEST WASHINGTON 9, D. C. 8 July, 1968 Dearest Lola and Dear Aziz. In a few days you will get a 71-page book of Xerox statements about the Islamic Archives. The statements include some history of the enterprise and a few repititions of fact. They also show the development of the concepts and reveal that its scope, format, and operations are wide-open to whatever life future W the studies may require. These statements should be read with the report I am now (en sha'llahl) finishing on the place of the photograph as a research and teaching document in Near/Middle Eastern studies. I must repeat here, for the record, that the future and permanent home of the Islamic Archives is a problem to be decided by John Wilson, Cuyler Young, Sr., and myself, and further, that we have not discussed this problem, and further, I do not believe that we shall have cause to do so (en sha'llah) for some years. Katharine and I send salaams and affectionate remembrances to you both. Sincerely, Professor Emeritus and Mrs. Aziz S. Atiya The Library University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah c^JsjL^J ~Vw - |
