SPECIAL COMMISBIONS-KICKAPOO EEBfOVAL. A co,mmissiou consisting of Hon. Henry M. Atkinson, of Nebmka, and 001. Thomas Q. Williams, of San Antonio, Texas, was appointed in March, 1873, under acts of Congress approved July 15,1870. and March 31,1871, [Stat. at Large, pp. 369,569,] to effect the removal of theEick-apooand other American Indean tribes, roving on the borders of Mexico and Texas, to reservations within the Territories of the United States. They have reported the successful removal of 480 Eickapoos from the border to reservation in Indian Territory. On the5tb of May last, Will-iam M. Edgar, esq., succeeded Mr. Atkinson, resigned, and was author-ized to complete the work begun by said commission. On the 14th at July last, Nr. Williams, in concluding the work assigned the commit+ sion, reported that the authorities of the Mesican State of Chihuahua had made a treatv. in Mav last. with the Indians of that State. wherein the lndiaov are $ovided kith dubsistc~icea nd a permanent reserriltiou for all the tribes. who are reqairrd to loc:~toa nd reluain thorcon, undur similar restrictions to those regulating American reservations, and they are specifically prohibited from crossing theRio Grande into the United States, for any cause, without special permission.
