There are on and in the neighborhood of t,he military reserrations of Torts Clark and Duncan, on the Texas border, about 500 persons of African descent, who are known as Seminole negroes," sixtr of them men and groan boys, the remainder women and children, who, being in a very destitute oondition and in an inhospiteble country, are a care upou the Government. These negroes were transferred with the Semi. nole Indiarrs from Plorida to the West as a part of that tribe. They were induced to return to Texas from Mexico, whence they fled to escape bondage.
