Title Examining an in depth humanities course developed for underrepresented students: Through the lens of Critical Pedagogy
Creator Fabián Castillo
Subject MACL
Description The project examined the Clemente course in the humanities in a high school in the inter-mountain west. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the course and determine if the students felt like it is preparing them for college. The lens that arose after entering the classroom and examining the course was Critical Pedagogy and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy. By discovering this lens it allowed me to formulate better interviewing questions for the participants, it also helped me discover five core themes that were present in the interviews with my participants. I then analyzed the data and used the information provided by the participants to provide recommendations to course leaders.
