"When I think of Utah, I think of freedom and justice. We highly value these principles. I wanted to create a flag that symbolized the importance of this, so I chose a prominent blue background to represent justice, and red and white stripes to represent freedom. The beehive, which represents industry, is the heart of our state so I placed it directly in the center, surrounded by white stars, representing purity and our focus in eight key areas; education, growth, diversity, family, heritage, prosperity, leadership, and change. Utah continues to lead out as a beacon of hope across our nation in these values and principles and I aimed to convey that in this design."
