From that day to the day of his death, May 17, he never voluntarily missed a Sunday or Holy Day Mass. Early in May his family reported severe illness and inability to eat. At Dr. Lacy's suggestion we took him in for intra-venous feeding, but we had not the staff to give him the 24-hour care he needed. He was admitted tfJ the County Hospital at Monticello, and there, fortified by the last rites of the Church, he passed to his rest on the seventeenth. Pray for his soul. No one knows his exact age, but he was probably close to 90. IMIANY of our readers don't seem to know about Verde Valley School at Sedona, Arizona. It is famous to us chiefly because it sends groups of boys or girls into various parts of the Reservation - including, of course, St. Christopher's '- to mingle with youngsters of other races and so widen their own view of life. We had a pleasant week with five of their boys in May. They undertook several important work projects while here, including the fencing in of our enlarged cemetery. If they had had more time, we might have se( them to work building a much needed mortuary chapel on the cemetery grounds. Fortunately, we do not have |
