John Shafroth, A & m0lAtl . v o 3 7 ff y United; States Senator, \ ° r.aoErvrr, % MT is \m llUQjOg Washington, D. 0. : Dear Mr. Shafroth:". - 7 As in former years, this Department is receiving numerous complaints from the vicinity of Rangely and Meeker, stating that the Indians, from Utah, are making trips into Colorado, and are slaughtering our deer. I have sent a few Deputies into the district, in an effort to either frighten, or persuade them to return to the Reservation. I am Informed that the Indians have permits from the Agent, giving them the right to leave the Reservation to hunt. I -would thank you to uso your good offices with the Department of Indian Affairs, in an effort to restrain the Indians from crossing the Colorado borders. I would appreciate your views, and advises. In this matter, and v/ith kindest personal regards, beg to remain, Yours very truly, ;-\ GAMS AITD FISH'COMMISSIONS. W3P/H |
