Description Presenting Symptom: Loss of vision OD; Cotton wool spots. Pathology: Opaque temporal artery. Clinical: The patient was a 68-year old female with a 20-year history of hypertension and recent partial loss of vision in the right eye. The fundus photograph shows opacification of the superior temporal artery wall as it emerges from the disc and an obstruction of the vein at the point of the AV crossing. Peripheral to this site there are extensive hemorrhages, edema and an occasional cotton wool spot. Proximal to the site of obstruction, the superior temporal vein is reduced to a tiny diameter until it joins with its macular branch which was not obstructed. The cause of the venous obstruction in this case was arteriosclerosis. Disease/ Diagnosis: Retinal vein occlusion
