Show UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA 2419 Durant Ave., DEPARTMENT OF NEAR EASTERN LANGUAGES Berkeley 4, Calif., BERKELEY 4, CALIFORNIA April 6, 1951. Dear Professor Atiya: " I am in receipt of your wire and your letter of April 3rd, and am glad that the ^pril date, as your previous letter suggested (probably a misprint) is out of the question. At this Juncture I would like to know whether apart from your lecture on "The Crusades" you are willing to give a lecture on St. Catherine Monastery Manuscripts, and if so, please indicate the exact title and whether slides would accompany the talk. The Archaeological Institute of the west Coast, which is ready to sponsor one of the two lectures, would be very interested in this particular talk. I would also have to know whether and when you plan to be in Los Angeles where, through the Archaeological Institute, another lecture of yours may be scheduled. A colleague of mine from Stanford informed me about their interest in having you speak there, but it isn't certain yet whether they can pay any fee. AS soon as I h&#£ from you all the necessary information I shall give you the would kindly sdeentdai mles aof b mioyg arrarphaincgaelm esnktest.c h Itof w oyuoludr sbeel f,he wliptfhu la if you |
