Description |
"The red stripes symbolize the energy and power of a united Utah population. The white stripes symbolize purity--the desire that Utahns have to do good and be an example to others. The white further represents equality--the absence of color and the commonality of all Utahns of every background. The blue symbolizes the necessity of water in our desert climate and calls to mind the sacrifices and wise choices that are necessary to preserve that critical resource; these are attributes of which Utahns can be proud. The overall design pays tribute to the American flag and expresses our patriotism and love of country. The honeybee is a longtime Utah symbol and represents industry and cooperation, with a bit of a hard edge--bees are harmless and useful almost all the time, but they stick up for each other and unify against threats." |
