Show At its conclusion the President again said: " The event is well worthy general celebration, and if possible I shall attend/' The President's reply was telegraphed to Utah, and upon receiving the report of the delegation, the Commission took immediate steps to arrange for the reception and entertainment of the Chief Magistrate of the Republic, as the guest of the State of Utah during the Pioneer Jubilee. For this purpose a committee consisting of the following named representative citizens was appointed: Col. J. Ford Kent, Hon. Geo. Q. Cannon, J. L. Rawlins, Governor Heber M. Wells, Geo. Y. The labors of this devoted committee, however, were not in vain. They were loyal supporters of the Commission in the Titanic task imposed upon it by the representatives of the people, and aided materially in the success of the great celebration. |
