The Professional Ski Instructor realizes that his prime obligation in skiing is to the skiing public and to the students who have paid him for his best ski teaching abilities. 2. The Professional Ski Instructor seeks constantly to maintain and improve his competence as a teacher of the world's finest outdoor sport through the program of educational advancement and examinations offered by his regional association. 3. The Professional Ski Instructor directs his students into practices and procedures of skiing that will be of the utmost benefit to the student rather than those which might be merely expedient. 4. The Professional Ski Instructor adopts demonstrable, positive improvements in the art of ski instruction and discards, after mature reflection and trial, those which do not serve to upgrade skiing and ski instruction. 5. The Professional Ski Instructor deports himself in a manner always to reflect credit upon his profession and his associates. 6. The Professional Ski Instructor adopts enthusiastically the high standards and responsibilities placed upon him by the codes and requirements of the USSA and of his regional instructor association and is fully aware that intentional deviation from these codes of internal discipline could mean loss of his instructor's credentials and rating. To encourage interest in non-certified teachers to become certified. 2. To attract new teachers to the profession. 3. To provide contact between candidates and the association. 4. To circulate information to amateur teachers. 5. To help achieve our primary goal of protecting the public from poor ski instruction by enforcing some requirements on noncertified teachers. 6. To supplement the association income. REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME REGISTERED: 1. Be sponsored by a fully certified ski school director or an area certification representative. 2. Hold a current American Red Cross Advanced first aid card. 3. Submit IlSubject BIl as outlined in ISlA Plan for Certification. 4. Attend an ISlA sponsored clinic, or complete a minimum of 8 hours on-the-snow clinic conducted by a fully certified instructor. It shall be the responsibility of the sponsor to verify that the above requirements are met. Registrants will receive all association mailings and information pertinent to their situation. No pins, cards or identification will be issued. At no time shall an individual or ski school director advertise that the registrant is approved, qualified, etc. by the I.S.I.A. Success of a program such as the above outlined, would be dependent on ski school directors for administration.
