Your kind reply enabled us to process their applications and make them members of our Division. We would like to thank you very much for your cooperation in this regard. It may be of interest to you that the Intermountain Division is the only ski instructors division in the United States that transfers foreign instructors without requiring a certification examination procedure. Hore than likely, in the future, we will be writing to you directly regarding the certification status of Austrian instructors making application for employment and transfer into our Division. Again, we appreciate very much your cooperation. en: ld cc: Dennis Sallford I.S.I.A. E.e.D. Sincerely, . f 1-/"'-7) i ' _~{ (XLI- V - /C{/c/~ /l/\ . c-i---... Clark T. Parkinson President Hr. POND EXECUTIVE SECRETARY I.S.I.A. INTERMOUNTAIN SKI INSTRUCTORS ASSOCIATION SKI SCHOOL DIRECTORS MEETING September 18, 1971 Burley, Idaho A meeting of the Ski School Directors of I.S.I.A. was held at Burley, Idaho on the 18th day of September, 1971 at the hour of 3:30 P. M. Present were: Junior Bounous Phil Jones Lex Kuneau Harold Stanger Earl Miller Bob Parker Frank Gillette Kirby Dawson Gene Palmer Max Lundberg Al Ellis Bill Briggs K. Smith Bob Autry Claude Jones Sigi Engl Junior Bounous served as Chairman of the meeting and Bonnie R. Pond, Executive Secretary, served as Secretary of the meeting for the purpose of taking the Minutes. The Chairman called the meeting to order and on Motion made by Lex Kuneau and seconded by K. Smith, the reading of the Minutes of December 6, 1970 were waived and the Minutes were approved as mailed. The Chairman announced that the BOD of I.S.I.A. had requested that the Ski School Directors after reviewing the proposed reorganization plan of I.S.I.A., make any recommendations they may have. Upon Motion duly made and seconded, the following resolutions were unanimously carried: RESOLVED: That each Ski School should have a representative involved in formulating certification policy and if possible to have members on the examining boards. FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Ski School Directors will get together one day prior to the Exam Clinic (yet to be scheduled this fall) for the purpose of helping to formulate desirable certification information. Ski School Directors should mail items they would like to see on the agenda to Lex Kuneau P. O. Box 548, Burley, Idaho 83318, as he is preparing the agenda. FURTHER RESOLVED: That the agenda be printed and mailed out before the Exam Clinic. FURTHER RESOLVED: That technical information should be disseminated to the general membership more effectively; perhaps in the Newsletter, direct mailings, and through technical representatives. FURTHER RESOLVED: That each Ski School Director submit a copy of any written Ski School Sequence which the school uses to the Executive Secretary. Said sequences to be delivered to the Technical Vice President. SKI SCHOOL DIRECTORS Meeting - September 18, 1971 Page 2 K. Smith then raised the question of joining I.S.A. The feeling was that it should remain on a voluntary membership only and not on a club or Ski School basis. Junior Bounous at this time circulated a list of area cimplimentary policies and asked that Directors verify if the information is correct to the best of their knowledge. (See Appendix A) FURTHER RESOLVED: To include under the Communications Vice President a function designated "Area Operator and Ski Industry Liason" and that a committee should act as Liason to the Ski Industry and Area Operators but that the President should represent I.S.I.A. directly. FURTHER RESOLVED: That candidates for Full certification (already Associates) be separated for exam purposes from those candidates who do not hold an Associate rating. A discussion was then held regarding the criteria used for selecting the Ski School Director and the Ski Instructor of the year. It was decided that suggestions regarding future criteria in selecting the aforenamed individuals would be discussed at the next Ski School Directors meeting. FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Directors recommend that the Study Group Report be approved by the Board of Directors and be implemented with the Ski School Directors vote of confidence. Nominations for Chairman of the Ski School Directors Council were then opened and Bob Autry and K. Smith were nominated. Ballots being duly cast it was determined that Bob Autry was elected the new Ski School Director Council Chairman for the coming season. The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 P. M. SUBJECT: Members dropped from I.S.I.A. for failure to attend an approved clinic within the last two years. Dear Ski Instructor: Please be advised that the Board of Directors has dropped your name from membership in Intermountain Ski Instructors Association for the reason that you have failed without valid excuse, to attend an approved clinic within the last two years. However, in your case, the Board of Directors did wish to provide a means of reinstatement without re-certification. Hence if by December 31, 1971, you have presented this office with verification of your attendance at an approved clinic, the Board of Directors will be inclined to act to reinstate you. An approved clinic means a clinic sponsored by a Ski Instructors Division and would include the Sun Valley Symposium held each year and would also include the fall clinic which will be sponsored by I.S.I.A. as soon as snow falls this year. Please help us keep you as a member by attending and verifying an approved clinic by December 31, 1971. cc: Clark Parkinson -~~ --- --- Very sincerely, "';'/:/ '''/ --/:~) /l #,,=7,:~Ii!;t-K~ ;1. /,..1:;:.'£ BONNIE R.
