Show 4 horoby covenants and agrees to be retained and employed, and to diligently employ and vise all lawful moans to secure the objects and pvu.'po3es hereinbefore enumerated as such attorney and coun-oollor.- Tho ixirticular purpoae for which this agreement is mado, is to effect tho objects and purposo3 set out in tho preamble to this agreement and tho grant of authority to said attorney. The scope of the authority for molting this agreement ic tho resolution passed in open council as aforesaid (a copy whereof 13 hereto attached and made part end parcel hereof) and tho treaties, agreements with and laws of Congress relating to said Indians specially, end to Indians generally, and the reason for exorcising said authority, is that the services of said attorney is deemed by said Indians necessary to enforce and protect thoir interests generally in relation to their said claims and rights under thoir treaties and agreements with tho United States and their rights in the \ . lend set apart as their reservation, either by agreement 'or executive order, and tho accomplishment of tho objects and purposes had in view by said Indians at thoir said meeting.
