INTERMOUNTAIN SKI INSTRUCTORS ASSOCIATION CLINICS PROGBAJJ 1974-1975 TO, Board of Directors, ISlA FROM, Clinics Committee SUBJECT, 1974-75 Clinics Program The ISlA Clinics Committee has outlined an imaginative program of clinics for the 1974-75 ski season which we submit for your approval. We solicit your suggestions that the rrogram can be as refined and praotical as possible • . ,1 J "\:, j',.!.JL1 ; The purpose of these clinics is to provide to al~ members of this association the means by which they can increase their skill and knowledge of contemporary skiing and teaching. Subject matter treated will include methodology, theory, demonstrations, and free skiing, with emphasis on having fun. '£he Clinics Committee has scheduled three formal educational clinics which will be open to all members of the association for a pre-registration fee of five dollars for each clinic that the instructor desires to attend. Late registration at the clinics will be for seven dollars. One additional clinic will be open to the association membership for a five dollar pre-registration fee. That being a free style clinic to be held during the month of March, and will deal solely with free style skiing, break down and teaching of the maneuvers. The committee will also entertain a limited number of requests from individual ski schools for clinics after the conclusion of the three scheduled association clinics. These clinics will be complimentary to all who attend as long as the host area will comp lift tickets to the visiting instructors and participants. In-as-much-as it is not the policy of the ISlA Clinics Committee to operate at a profit, this "Free Clinics" program will continue until clinics funds are exhausted, after which clinic requests will be honored on a fee basis. In order to initiate this program and make it run successfully, a force of willing clinic instructors will have to be created who will be available on call. This pool of instructors should include all examiners, the demo team, technical and certification committee members as well as other experienced instructors. Clinic instructors will be paid one half the normal examiners pay and travel expense for travel over 100 miles, for the three I3lA general clinics. Compensation for teaching all day clinics will be the same as that for examining. -2- In an effort to obtain needed feedback, as well as to assist in the huilding of 8. pool of competent clinic instructors, clinic participants will be requested to fill out a critique sh~et simllar to that used in the certification pro3ram. It is necessary that a central clearing house for clinic r""Tuests b~ et>tablished so the program can be coordinated and run smoothly. Therefore, all requests for any tyre of clinic :L~() ~'h()u1d be directed to Mr. Bob Parker, Malad, Idaho, 83252. n~v.~').. ~ot' ~ The ISlA Clinics Committee feels that the clinics progrAm planned for the coming ski season is one which all association members can be proud of. The programs success, however, will b,.. det"'rmined by the number of experienced instructors who will give of their time and knowledge. rhe committee further hopes that a strong and active clinics program will become a permanent part of the certification program in I~IA.
