Many sources of historical geographical and philosophical importance, in addition to Biblical or early theological studies, will be represented. One highlight will be a set of official documents in the form of rolls of varying lengths, somstimes reaching several meters. These are the charters of liberties, or firmans, issued by the caliphs or sultans of Islam in favor of the monks of St. Catherine. The collection at the monastery amounts to more than 2,000 pieces.
