1. One-page typewritten letter from J. W. Ashton at Indiana University to Aziz Atiya in Alexandria, Egypt, dated April 29, 1952. The letter contains details of a possible Fulbright Grant that Dr. Atiya could apply for, and a supplemental grant offered by Indiana University to teach in their Near Eastern Studies program. 2. One-page typewritten letter from J. W. Ashton to Dr. Atiya in Egypt, dated January 21, 1953. Ashton thanks Dr. Atiya for sending him a copy of his article, "The Monastery of St. Catherine and the Mount Sinai Expedition", and hopes to see Dr. Atiya again at Indiana University. Handwritten postscript thanks him for his Christmas greetings. 3. One-page typewritten letter to Dr. Atiya at Farouk I University in Alexandria, Egypt, from J. W. Ashton of Indiana University, dated June 6, 1952. In the letter, Ashton thanks Atiya for his letter of May 22, and tells him that the university is not able at that time to host Dr. Atiya on campus for "consultation and direction" |
