Description |
For many years Utah has been among the fastest growing states in the country. Although the primary reason for Utah's high growth is the rate of natural increase caused by Utah's high birth rate, migration is the other component of population change. This report examines some of the major sources of migration data for Utah. The history section provides a background of net migration in Utah using the derived migration data from section investigates the origins and destinations of migration in and out of Utah using the U. S. Internal Revenue Service's migration data. It is not the intent of this report -- nor is it possible given the available data -- to define precisely who the movers are and why they move. This report will, however, present some of the potential reasons for migrating in and out of Utah as well among Utah's counties. In addition, a migration data base in provided in the appendices. |
