Show OPERATION OF A MODULAR, MOVABLE WASTE INCINERATOR ON A SITE Prakash Acharya ENSCO Environmental Services Franklin, TN 37064 The start-up and operation of the system discussed is the third generation of EXSCO Environmental Services modular waste incinerators. The system can burn a wide variety of solid and liquid wastes efficiently while meeting stringent emmission standards. The system is currently being used to clean up an abandoned waste site. The modular unit was preassembled, trailer mounted, and set up on the Sydney Mine site in a matter of weeks. NATURE OF SITE The site that is to be cleaned up consists of two lagoons identified as the Septage Pond and the Oil Pond. The approximate areas of the ponds are 1.5 and 0.6 acres respectively. Liquid wastes consisting of oil and grease were pumped into the pits over a period of years. The site layout is shown in Figure 1. An unused pit and numerous ground watering wells are also on site. It had been determined that the potential existed for the leakage of contaminants into the local ground water supply. However, no hazardous mater in]s had been identified in previous sampling studies. 2v- |
