Show THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF THE HISTORY OF ART TAPPAN HALL A N N ARBOR, MICHIGAN March 30, 1960 Professor Aziz S. Atiya Center for Intercultural Studies University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Aziz: Finally, I have been able to assemble the necessary photographs and information so that I could send to the Ambassador in Washington the letter which Dr. Hashim suggested I send to him. Please find herewith a copy of my letter to the Ambassador, as well as another addressed to the Cultural Counselor. Lastly, I enclose a copy of my letter to the Archbishop, in which you will note that I have followed your advice concerning our proposed donation to the Monastery. I fully agree with you that it is preferable to let this detail be conveyed by you, since you are kind enough to do so. In the near future I expect to be in Washington and shall certainly call on the Ambassador in order to pay my respects and to ask if he has any further suggestions. You are indeed kind to offer to write Mr. M. Moftah, the Minister Plenipotentiary, on our behalf. I think this would be very helpful, provided you can find time in your busy schedule. You have already devoted so much time to helping us that it distresses me to think of troubling you further. Hope is here for Easter vacation and, as you can imagine, it is a great joy to have her with me again. She has had a difficult year at boarding school, not because of her work, which has actually gone quite well, but because of her gradual acceptance of her loss of Mary. It has taken all this time for her to accept the loss. Finally, things are looking up, and I know that she will be all right. All of us who knew you here are eager to hear more about the organization you are constructing. We hear echoes of your work but are anxious to learn more in detail. If you can ever stop in Ann Arbor, I hope you know how welcome you will be. Please give my affectionate regards to Lola and the children. With renewed thanks for all you have done and with kindest regards, I remain, Yours as ever, George H. Forsyth, Jr. Chairman GHF:SMP Encs. (3) AIR MAIL |
