Neither do I want to critici the Government of the United States at any time, but I believe that the present administration, or I might say that Mr. Burke the iFiinFFFFF 1UFan C r m i t t e o *°* « y ^ars. knows that the Indian people have been done some injustice. How as a Government official himself, he wants to see that the•'Governmen does Vttiat it nas agreed to do. Every organization maizes mistake and for that reason Mr. Burke knows that there is only one way an? t FFFF °f 4f reservation to be helped regarding claim: and tnat is through the courts of the United States. How for us people to sit here without making any effort to rectify that or bring tins suit before the Court of Slaims would be foolish for nothing would ever be done unless we get some business organization that v/ill push this matter. The Indian Department cannot go before the Court of Claims and represent the Government and the Indian at the same time. For that reason it has been their policy to all^the Indians, through a Business Committee, to employ attorneys. From what I can find there has jeen one or two contracts entered into by this reservation In the last few years. Those contracts have never been approved beoause they have not been presented in the proper way. For that reason the thing that I am trying to do in favoring a plan by which a Business Committee could be organized is to «^ot in shape what is actually due you people and present it in°the proper way. When these olaims are submitted to the courts thev will bo for everything that is due the Indians as a whole. As things are today here on this reservation it is my opinion that wo can go on as before until we are all dead and our children's children arc dead before there will be anything accomplished along these lines.
