Show corporation in the educational system of the University which is responsible for the salary of the officer in question. §78. a. A U T O M A T I C RETIREMENT. Subject to the Charter, every officer of administration or instruction shall retire from active service in the University on June 30 next after he attains the age of 68 years. b. O P T I O N A L RETIREMENT. Any officer of administration or instruction may, at his o wn written request to the President or on motion by the Trustees, be retired from active service in the University at any time after he attains the age of 65 years. §79. a. A P P O I N T M E N T O F RETIRED OFFICERS FOR SPECIAL SERVICES. A n y retired officer of administration or instruction m a y be appointed by the Trustees to render special services to the University. Appointments for such purposes shall be for periods of not more than one year (subject to renewal), and shall be on such conditions and with such compensation as the Trustees m a y determine. b. RETENTION O F N A M E S O F RETIRED OFFICERS. The names of all retired officers shall be retained in the Directory or other appropriate announcements of the University. Provisions for Tuition Exemption Extract from the Statutes of the University §345. SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF OFFICERS. Sons and daughters of full-time officers of instruction in the University, and of administrative officers having equivalent rank, shall be granted free tuition in the several schools and colleges of the University, provided that they shall be held to the same standard of performance as holders of scholarships in the school in which they m a y be enrolled, and that they shall be subject to all the rules and regulations governing holders of scholarships. §346. OFFICERS O F INSTRUCTION. Officers of instruction w h o hold a direct appointment from the Trustees of one of the corporations included in the University educational system, to which is attached a salary at least equal to the salary of an assistant in Columbia University, shall be granted free tuition, when, with the consent of the department concerned and the approval of the President, they are permitted to take courses of instruction and research. |
