Description Presenting Symptom: Chorioretinal scars. Pathology: Choroidal inflammation. Clinical: The patient was a 30-year old inmate of an institution for the mentally retarded. He had congenital syphilis and was thought to be blind from early infancy. The fundi showed multiple chorioretinal scars consisting of small pigmented lesions centrally with a surrounding a vascular choroid. Whether these lesions were of inflammatory or vascular origin is speculative but there is no evidence of active inflammation. DIsease/ Diagnosis: Chorioretinitis
