Show S' vl v\f\ THE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED STUDY PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY SCHOOL OF HISTORICAL STUDIES March 28, 1959 Professor John H* Mueller Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana My dear Professor Muellers You must pardon my headaches. The prolonged deliberations over the book, together with the great pressures on my time, made it appear necessary for me to have a clear-cut decision before putting in considerable time and energy into the revised manuscript* The enclosure is self-explanatory, and the revision is actually in progress since both Indiana and the Oxford University Press are fully for the book. Going back to our early correspondence, I find in a letter from you dated August 17> 1956, under the title of 'Fringe perquisites* that foreign copyrights and royalties are to be ceded to the author, and that American royalties are to be shared, two-thirds to the author* Are these the normal conditions in regard to the Patten Series? And if so, are they known and binding to the University Press? I should appreciate your views on the matter as Chairman of the Fatten Committee* Let me seize this opportunity to send you and your good wife the season's warmest greetings and best wishes from both of us* Very cordially yours, Aziz S.
