Title |
Spectroscopy of mixed early-late transition metal diatomics: ScNi, YPd, and ZrCo |
Date |
1994 |
Description |
Resonant two-photon ionization spectroscopy has been employed to investigate the spectra of the jet-cooled transition metal diatomics ScNi, YPd, and ZrCo, which are isovalent species which possess ~or are thought to possess! an X 2?+ ground state. Several electronic band systems have been observed for these species in the near infrared, and the analysis of these systems is reported. Ground state vibrational intervals of ?G"1/2=334.5 ? 1.0, 264.4?0.2, and 357.7 cm-1 have been determined for ScNi, YPd, and ZrCo, respectively. The spectroscopic results obtained for ScNi and YPd are compared to theoretical calculations performed by other researchers, and a discussion of the chemical bonding in these species is presented. |
