Determination of the M A C T floor requires industry information such as the number of existing sources and their emission levels. Examination of alternatives above the M A C T floor requires information on the cost and performance of various emission control technologies and pollution prevention techniques. For the ICCR process, work groups will be collecting and analyzing data from the sources in each category to determine the M A C T floors and regulatory alternatives. Section 129 - Regulations to Limit Air Pollution from Burning of Non-Hazardous Waste Regulations developed under Section 129 address emissions from the combustion of non-hazardous solid waste. Solid wastes are defined as any solid, semi-solid, liquid, sludge, or contained gas discarded as a result of industrial or commercial activity. Hazardous waste combustion regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act ( R C R A ) is not regulated under Section 129 of the Clean Air Act. Additionally, sources covered under Section 129 are not covered by regulations under Section 112. Regulations developed under Section 129 will cover new and existing sources and must include emission limits based on M A C T (the same as those for Section 112). These regulations will limit the emissions of particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, dioxins/furans, cadmium, lead, and mercury. Opacity limits are also required under Section 129. |
