Show Techow, Sung., China, June 15. 1926, Dear Friends,- We ov;e about cne hundred of you letters, and there is no prospect of our being able to answer them soon. Wouldn't you ratner get a general letter new and know a little about our plans than to wale for a personal message? Cf course such a letter will not have in it the questions we should like to ask about your families, your church work, and your own individual problems and sorrows, but you know that we want to hear about those, just as we are sure that you want to hear about us. You will find three enclosures:- a picture with Its title on the back, a description of cur trip to Lintsing, and a translation of the report cf last year's work in our North China Mission. The translation carries so much of the original flavor that It seemed to me that you would surely wish to read it whether you know much about the other stations or not. If you find a name and address on these enclosures, will you please send it en to that person, for there may not be enough copies to go around. Tha Tuckers will have left before this letter starts to you. Their going leaves such a big hole that we hardly dare to think of next year. Dr. Emm-a has done so much and such good teaching in the nurses' training school. Dr. Francis has such unusual ability to manage details and to keep his fingers en every department of the work. Naturally there v/ill be many mere things for Emery to look after. There will have to be more of consultation and committee meetings, that time-consuming device. We have a new doctor, full of plans and energy, but he must devote himself to the language with a little professional work en the side, and is not yet prepared to take up the administrative work. I tell you this to show you how very important it is that you pray for us often, very often. If we do these things to the glory of the Master, it will be, "not by might , nor by power", but by God's Spirit working in answer to your prayers, yours and ours. We are all very well. Baby Grace is crawling everywhere, and so fat, and pretty. I will not bore you by telling you the cute things she does - and that is your loss! Glory is doing well in school. Examinations come next week and she is reviewing for finals. She is tired and I shall be glad when school Is out. The two girls are a great joy to us and we wonder hov; we managed without them. They take time and there be must planning to make the pennies go farther, but we have just that much mere in common with other parents. There is a train schedule of a sort, but travel is not easy. No one is sure about political things, but we have faith in the sterling worth of the people among whom we live and whom we love. All but one or two of the wounded soldiers of the December battle have gone. Many other soldiers have come and gene in the meantime. Just now we have five typhus cases, and also a smallpox case deserted by his fellow soldiers. Our work is so satisfying. There is enough scope for every bit of ability we have and then more to develop latent ability. There are opportunities en every side to help others - and incidentally forget one's own disappointments, if one so wishes. Could we be anything but grateful to you for making it possible for us to be here, and to the Father for His guidance? Sincerely yours, T T W y t ^ Q^jL C/i.' Q- ^'-t-^-vo |
