Show HANS PETER IVERSON'S LIFE HISTORY IN VERSE My life events I tell in short, To all it may appear Sometimes it was a little hard, But mostly pleasure dear. My birth was over Atlantic shores, On Danish free domain; Now seasons lapsed three scores and four, Dear treasures be my gain. From youth my mother told me pray and lead a godly life; When 18 first I heard men say an angel came to earth. I grasped that truth with every force, Converted for its cause, Without the pay of script or price From 4 to 5 years I were in prison led, The space of 9 months; Hurrah! for Zion then I tread, Take with my bride in bloom. In Sanpete I did plow and build, Commence a happy home; But soon for Dixie was the trill And I did join the boom. At Washington where cotton grows, Here I did fix to stay; But lo! About I took the For her had sway. Yet I did plant and build a home, My family did increase; Help build the temple at St. George, Oh these were happy days. Just then another mission call, Within a week did go; Soon set my feet on Danish soil And traveled to and fro. 28 Cowboy Poetry From Utah |
