Show NEW SOURCE NOx LIMITS • Major new and modified sources of NOx must meet stringent standards as part of ozone control requirements. - In attainment areas, major new sources must meet Best Available Control Technology (BACT). The best control available within some cost limit. - In nonattainment areas, major new sources must meet Lowest Achievable Emission Rate (LAER). The greatest reduction technically achievable or demonstrated regardless of cost. • BACT and LAER become more stringent over time as technology improves and becomes less expensive. New source limits, therefore are usually more stringent than NSPS or acid rain limits. • Little credit has been given in new source limits for inherently low emissions rather than add-on controls. -8- |
