Show 69 David glanced at Darcy. Small hands covered her face. Something caught beneath the wheels, or one of the wheels, and they were backing down the road. After a hundred yards they stopped. "Okay?" asked the driver without turning his head. "Okay," chorused the six Germans. The taxi moved forward, slowly at first, then picked up speed. David squinted at the bad stretch ahead, a dip in the road that wouldn't dry for days. The driver obviously planned to make it through purely on momentum. This time the taxi hit the sludge like an icebreaker. Throwing a dirty spray behind, it plowed effortlessly through and continued up the road without slowing down. The Germans congratulated one another and passed the bottle of schnapps among themselves. "Hey Darcy, would you say that was well done? Finely executed? Would you say that?"
