I was inspired by the old Utah State flag, but I wanted to streamline the design's colors, shapes, and layout to make it more distinguishable and modern. Blue and yellow represent the colors of the old background and seal, but blue is also the color of peace and the sky. Yellow is the color of happiness and the sun. Together, they make a rising sun above the white snow-tipped mountains, whose color symbolizes purity and hope. Yellow is also the color of beehives, for which Utah is aptly named, "The Beehive State" - and the yellow circle could also be interpreted as an abstracted beehive. At last, there is a red star - symbolizing our pride to be a part of the United States, while also highlighting our determination for the future, for which I hope this flag will stand the test of time.
