Show HARRY ALTSCHULE Synagogue. The fact of the matter is, in our community, because of our uniqueness, there is no duplication. There is only one thing that we have to watch out for and that is the cooperation; we have to cooperate. We have to work together and not separately. I daresay there is no organization in this community that is totally being duplicated by the others. The fact of the matter is, take B'nai B'rith Men. B'nai B'rith Men is the only men's auxiliary in this community. The Synagogue has no men's auxiliary. The Center has no men's auxiliary. B' nai B'rith is the only men's auxiliary. HR: Is this unique? I mean, in other cities are there any. HA: Other cities, larger cities, intermediate cities, the temples and the synagogues have men's clubs. Sure, great, they do a great job, men's clubs. In my opinion, we are not over-saturated. Our direction has to be changed. There are some misconceptions about what the original purpose is, and what it should be. What the future should be for all these organizations. Including ORT. ORT has a role to play. It is a great international institution. Great. And I have heard people say, "We do not need them here. The last thing we need is another organization." But if ORT does what it is supposed to do and Hadassah does what it is supposed to (with changing times taken into consideration, and B' nai B' rith, and the 31 |
