Show 1927 Ida and family saw the old year out and w elcomed in the new 1927. During the past year,I was extremely busy in educational matters,especialy, and my health was not the best,and no~ ~ge brethren are very gracious to me have granted every courtesy possible,and now rell me to take a vacation and buxld up my health,besides granting two additional teachers as my assistants, Elders,K.L.Bla«ker, And Ezra C.Dalby from other seminaries,and we have completed another Room and made great changes in the building so that I have the front Room,with hall to my room and they have a large room to· the west leading from a general Hall directly to their room which makes it very desirable and entirely distinct so far as classes are concerned. The~ each have three classes daily,teaching the Old and ~ew Testament and I have five classes daily Teaching the Old,the new Testament and all the Church History and Doctrines Classes,besides I am delivering many lectures to High Sahool assemblies in Southers Idaho,Utah,and lecturing on various subjects,Doctrines,Sex Problem, Evolution and Creation,and also,giving each week from te to thirty blessings at my home to interested youmg people ,more than e derly people,and this is a good sign of the spiritual growth among the yoling of the church. I also accompany Some of the General Alfthori ties of the church to General ~ake uonferences,and report all the proceedings at the General Conferences of the church pril and October. ~so in our stake We have the largeat number of patriarchs of any state in the q~usphsxH,in the order of their seinority they are John M.Whitaker, Willard C.Burton,Homer M.Brown,Hiram M.Taylor, Hyrum Smith,and John B.Fairban Fairbanks,and we hold our meetinga monthly,and with the Stake Presidency,attend the quarterly Conferences in the Wards a~d stake; !lso attend our prayer Circle together iti the Tower room of the Gran~te Stake,prepared for that nurpose. we also visit the widowg: and sick of the Stake and are busy in our special calling,giving blessings. and on the first of the year,as of today January lsy •• 9~7,Patriarch vlillard Burton and I visited the Stake Presidency, a number of Stake officers and widows to the number of forty,spen~ing practic ly all day in this glorious work,and making many very hapny,by leaving our blessing in heach home. The other patriarchs also did thfiir share of visitin then spent the evening with my lovely family and had. a delightful time,where beside were Syster Taylor and mother. During the balance of the week,gave a number of blessings;visited the sick,and studied on the principles of the gos pel ,so as to do better teaching. and on Sunday besides my war.d meetings ,spoke in the 24th ward,and thence during the balance of the l~nth taught in the SeminaBy five classes daily and am enjoying my associations with these fine inspiring young people; Also at the Request of the Stake Presidency of the Relief Society am delivering each month a Lecture to the Officers and Teacher~ of this great organixation,and continueing having some forty to fifty of the senior students deliver addresses in the various wards of the three Stakes All these various movements in the wards and stakes is having anever-increasing effect on the spiritual development of the people,in better attendance at ;::;acrament meem:tags,M.I • ...rs.... and sunday school .also in the quorums of the pro est hood. Often I am invited to lecture on the sex problem to High Schools Assam lies,and my time is fully occupied. Just finished well attended and inspirat ional meetings and roundups at Delta,Under FIK,KXEJtii Principal Lorenzo H.Hat Hatch, Tremonton Idaho under Principal Lynn S.Richards, Davis County,and rovo ,and after each lecture usually nave many questions to answer. This su ject is having a EOOd effect in lessening Juvenile delinquency and is buildin into the youth who attend seminary work a moral fiber that is levening the attitude of the youth,dnd is bring out the beautiful and exalted desires for a more perfected marriage relationship and self control in this the most impo tant time of their lives in helping them make adjustments in social relations I am spending time in the garden also which will give us our vegetables and together qith our milk and butter and eggs wgich give us the varities of foods necessary for a balanced diet. Neither Ida or I neglect the uplifting influenc of the drama and of music,also international lect~rer~and also the benefit of the ~eber retreat,yellowstone trips and Grandcanyons and the beauties of natur as well as keeping in harmonious relations with our fine enighbors and frie.nds I am looking forward to the Sp |
