Show Pre sident John Taylor Salt Lake City , Utah Dear Brother: - 75 - Your two letters of the 3rd and 9th inst. a t hYnd . Elder Huline h as been notified of the proposed change of his field of l abor and writes us , accepting the chunge, intending to join the first company of Elders going to England after the October Conference , provided that he can obtain the means to enable him to do SJ , which he thinks it likely that he can do . Elder Huline has proven a most efficient missionary and we much regret his departure from our midst, as we stand in great need of the counsel of those who have had experience , especially in the troublous time we have been called upon to go through of late , btrt we feel that his going is all right . We have notified Elder Walter Scott tha t he is a t liberty to vaca te any field in the state of G-eorgia where he presides , where the lives and limbs of the Elders are endangered through probable mob violence . In the state of Alabama everything seems to have quieted down and matters are moving along in the even tenor of their way, ~e having deemed it prudent to· vacate the field where the mob last month broke up our meetings . I ln Georgia considerable excitement preva ils, but it is gradually • subsiding and unless something unforseen occurs, we do not anticipa te trouble of any magnitude in the near future . We have written the G-overnor of the state asking fo:r inforrw.tion relative to the late reported act of the Legisl ture in passing a bill antagonistic to the preaching of the Gospel , and will doubtless soon receive a reply. |
